- Both of these problems have the same root; the near-total INCOMPETENCE of
- the state in determining whethern or not abuse has actually taken place.
- The system is swamped with false accusations, and the so-called "mandate"
- of returning the child (eventually) to the family is mainly a carrot to
- keep accused parents "in line", and a safety valve to excuse the more
- egregious screwups without actually admitting any error on the part of
- the agencies. The solution is not to remove the few remaining checks on
- the power of the CPS agencies and courts (the "unfortunate" legislation to
- which you refer); it would be better to limit their power even further.
