  37. I hate to rain on the parade, but there is an emerging standard in the
  38. Usenet world for threading called NOV (News OverView).  If you want to
  39. provide code that makes any sense for people doing NNTP-capable
  40. newsreaders, you had better go look at the NOV stuff, as should anyone
  41. who's doing a threaded newsreader.  Look in news.software.nntp, among
  42. other places, for discussion about it.
