  29. Allen's right about this, and you are right that DOD funding
  30. is iffy. Makes a space enthusiast want to cry. Fortunately,
  31. the Russians are still plugging away and the Japanese are
  32. enthusiastic. When the next equivalent of Sputnik comes along,
  33. the US will mount a crash program to catch up, develop an
  34. overly expensive one shot system, then fall back asleep after
  35. the next election.
