  15. It's statements like this that make me wince when I read your posts.

  17. You can't get interest on money just because you don't spend it; if NASA
  18. magically saves a billion dollars a year because of your schemes, the money 
  19. *doesn't* get stuck in a bank somewhere.  In addition, you've already budgeted
  20. the money elsewhere, so you aren't getting any absolute savings anyway.

  22. Besides, even if we do save all the money you claim, I don't see it being a 
  23. fair trade for scrapping chunks of the U.S. aerospace industry in favor of 
  24. the Russian industry.  The end result will be that we'll be buying from others
  25. forever, because it will be the Russians developing the next generation of 
  26. hardware, and not us.  It's just not worth it.
