  11. An author of a recent paper has referred to Chernoff-Hoeffning bounds:

  13.     "Chernoff-Hoeffding bounds are used to determine the sample size
  14.     N needed to bound the error in the probability estimate"
  15.  
  16. Unfortunately, no reference has been cited.  Can anyone point me toward
  17. a reference for this material.  The statistics books available in our
  18. library dont seem to refer to it and my search through abstracts hasnt
  19. been able to locate these bounds under this name.
