- SCANOR
- THE COMPLETE PERSONAL HIGH-RESOLUTION REMOTE SENSING SYSTEM
-
- The SCANOR System was designed in direct response to the growing need
- for local, low-cost ground stations which receive and process
- High Resolution Picture Transmission (HRPT) data in real time from the
- NOAA series satellites.
-
- The main features of the system are:
- * performance is unimpaired by interfering signals and noise.
- * the SCANOR system is controlled through user-friendly,
- MS Windows applications on a 386/486 PC -- no special training
- needed.
- * full set of state-of-the-art meteorological and image processing
- programs.
- * function libraries allow you to create your own custom
- applications.
- * the SCANOR hardware is highly reliable and maintenance-free.
- All hardware was designed to meet or exceed military standards.
- * the compact receiver is connected and operated through a
- personal 386/486 PC.
- * A GOES and Meteosat receiving option is also available.
-
- The SCANOR will provide end users (such as local meteorological stations,
- environmental agencies, weather prediction agencies, airports, sea ports,
- forest fire control services, fisheries) with low-cost, real-time
- satellite data essential to their daily operations.

- SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS
-
- The software of the receiving station operates through MS-Windows
- standard dialog and menu system. As a result, the package functions
- with any Windows supported hardware. An on-line Help program is
- supplied, which also serves as a brief guide to satellite data
- processing. This allows users who are not professionals in image
- processing and the use of satellite data to quickly learn how to
- work with the system.
-
- The software is delivered as a set of separate applications designed
- for specific functions.
-
- Basic software includes:
- 1. Satellite tracking and navigation - predicts orbits for
- data collection (including visual display).
- 2. Acquisition, decoding and calibration of data from the
- satellite - receives the data.
- 3. Primary data processing and fragmentation - chooses the area
- of interest.
- 4. Geographical reference - latitude-longitude gridding of
- processed targets including CPR.
- 5. Image processing - includes morphologies, advanced filters,
- and object recognition.
- 6. AVHRR data meteorological analysis - temperatures (SST),
- vegetation, humidity, cloud classification, and 2D histogram
- analysis.
-
- Optional meteorological data processing package (professional) is
- available that includes:
- 7. Vertical temperature profiles - HIRS and MSU data analysis
- including optical depth.
- 8. Spectral and correlation data analysis - spatial and frequency
- domain analysis.
- 9. Segmentation and classification of multiband data - several
- expert classification algorithms.
-
- Additional programs are easily incorporated into the basic software
- system, and specialized applications may be created by using the
- supplied dynamic link libraries (DLL).
