- : Yep. All those philips things use the RC5 remote control system, which was
- : developped by philips. have used it for about forever... So philips remotes
- : that are for the same machine (i.e. TV remotes, VCR remotes, CD player
- : remotes) are interchangeble. I tested this myself with a <1980 remote and a
- : 1987 VCR. Works just fine. Also, if there's anything wrong, my local Philips
- : Service Centre just sells some universal remote control... No known problems.

- :
- : Yeah, sure. Those things just sample the IR and record it. So if it says
- : that it can record all other remote signals, it most probably will.... And
- : the philips system is a very widely used one, so almost everything
- : "universal" will be compatible....

- Also, several of the 'universal' replacements already know the functions of
- almost every tv you can name. No training. The 'Four for One' Ive got
- know Philips, and maps to all of the usual romote keys.
