- It's been tried several different times and usually fails.
- Back a few years ago, there were at least two services that
- offered parts databases on bulletin board services. For various reasons, they
- died.
-
- About two years ago our library benchmarked a number of(3?) CD-ROM based
- catalog services. The one I happened to see consisted of about 20 disks
- and included a cross reference database as well as scanned pages from actual
- data books. We never got the service, I'm not sure why. I think the price
- was ~$4000. If people want names, etc. send me email and I will try to track
- them down.
