  18. It's been tried several different times and usually fails.
  19. Back a few years ago, there were at least two services that
  20. offered parts databases on bulletin board services.  For various reasons, they
  21. died.

  23. About two years ago our library benchmarked a number of(3?) CD-ROM based
  24. catalog services.  The one I happened to see consisted of about 20 disks
  25. and included a cross reference database as well as scanned pages from actual 
  26. data books.  We never got the service, I'm not sure why.  I think the price 
  27. was ~$4000. If people want names, etc. send me email and I will try to track
  28. them down.
