- Howdy all:
-
- I am soliciting ideas on the best (tm) way to convert a '74 small block
- chevy 350 from points to electronic ignition.
-
- I have seen generic conversion kits in catalogs, but it seems to me that
- it would be easier (and maybe cheaper?) to just drop a (used) HEI
- distributor into the motor. I am under the impression that chevy went
- from points -> HEI in '74, so is the block the same for the points and
- HEI motors?? Am I dreaming, or would this work? What other
- parts/work/connections would be needed to complete the conversion
- besides
- the distributor?
-
- Is it better to go with a conversion kit & keep the old distributor?
- Any suggestions appreciated.
-
- Please respond via email, as I (unfortunately :-( ) don't have the time
- to read this newsgroup often.
-
- Thanx in advance for your help.
