- It sounds like you have a problem with the coolant temperature sensor.
- The ECM isn't detecting that your car is warmed up, and keeping the
- mixture rich. (Is your car really warming up? Thermostat OK?)
- F.Y.I. - My Dodge (85 Lancer 2.2L turbo) had a code 51 (latched lean)
- which cleared after replacing the O2 sensor. This problem didn't cause
- the car to fail a smog test, but caused bucking on hills. I don't have to
- downshift as much anymore. ;-)
