  13. I haven't been able to read news.admin for a while so
  14. forgive me for asking potentially stupid questions.

  20. Maybe it's how long I've been staring at these little blue letters.

  24. in one swell foop.  Please nobody tell me to go get Cnews?  Please?

  26. I just noticed news unbatching from king.mcs.drexel.edu.  "king" to
  27. our little Xenix386 box.  Then I noticed all the news spooled up
  28. to go to king.  Nobody but king is sending us this much news right
  29. now.  That made me sit up.  Not much could at this hour.  Ok, no
  30. biggie.  Bnews thinks news is coming in from king.mcs.drexel.edu not
  31. king.  Why am I nervous?  Why?  Because the more I think about it
  32. the more it seems like we got a problem.  I can't just change everything
  33. to king.mcs.drexel.edu or the filenames will get too long.  Do they
  34. truncate and assume no collisions?  How would HDB Systems files take
  35. to a domain type name?  No way, SHere=king not king.mcs.drexel.edu!

  37. And that is just the beginning.  If you are here so far and
  38. are saying, "The jerk, all he has to do is..." then DON'T GO AWAY!

  40. I have been doing this for a few years and have never had to deal
  41. with an actual connection to an machine that 1) Isn't registered
  42. with the rutgers mapping project and 2) Sends us mail via MX name
  43. server?  How do I tell them how to list me in "The maps(tm)"?
  44. Will drexel!pacs work?  Should I just send mail or call the guy
  45. listed in drexel's map as poster?  (If you know this specifically,
  46. get in touch with myself and if you need details on your end get
  47. in touch with mcain@king)  I can't muck about with the politics.
  48. I just have to publish a map entry and catch hell if the mail doesn't
  49. get through.  Thanks for name serving us, whomever you are.
  50. I did get mail through by sending outside!drexel!pacs or was it
  51. outside!drexel!king!pacs.  When I tried to verify it recently
  52. it bounced at vu-vlsi saying it didn't know drexel.

  54. Back to the news problem.  I am running Bnews2.11 Patch level 17.
  55. I need to know where I can ftp Patch 18 and 19.  If you know how
  56. to stop the news from doing the unnecessary loop back to king
  57. please have it in my mailbox when I wake up.  I know there were
  58. more questions...

  60. Oh yes, If this gets to you by a long path and you are close by
  61. and you are a phl uucp site and can Poll pacs I'd like to tighten
  62. up the pha/pa web.  We are a not for profit educational society
  63. very into telecom and computers.  However we have to pay measured
  64. business rate for our phone lines and policy has been not to call
  65. out.  I'm sure "The powers that be" will ok a Poll here or there.

  67. We have close to 100 Meg free space in the news spool and we expire
  68. at 14 days.  Wanna help fill it up?  :-)
