  12. I recently contributed quite a bundle to my local dentist.  
  13. Although I suspect that his charges are toward the low end 
  14. of the range, it occured to me that I really have no idea of 
  15. the range of charges other than asking a few friends about 
  16. their experiences which still doesn't answer the question.

  18. Is there any source available to the public from which the
  19. most usual range of fees for medical procedures ranging from 
  20. an appendectomy to a root canal can be obtained?  
  21.  
  22. Of course such a range would be fairly large, and would vary 
  23. with location.  Nevertheless, if one were anticipating paying
  24. say $500 for a particular treatment, it would be more than 
  25. interesting to know whether the range for that treatment was 
  26. $200 to $500, $400 to $600, or $500 to $1000.
