- It is real. It works very well. Like any weak radio transmission, it works
- better the closer the receiver and transmitter are. In my test
- run in my home, I put the transmitter about 40 feet from the receiver. THe
- receiver was around a corner and in another room. The kitchen and my
- cordless phone separate the units. I turned on the microwave, made a phone
- call, and tried it out. worked fine. Small units. quite inconspicuous
- although a white case would have been a better choice. Plastic, not the
- most wonderful finish or seams. Made by the X10 folks. Also, you
- can get an extender that plugs into the trasmitter and can be
- placed inside an audio cabinet. (It costs $20 and is available from
- Home Automation Labs). J&R has the base set and separate trasmitter and
- receiver for cheaper than Crutchfield. Heck, at $50, buy a set and play around.
- If you really hate them, ship them back and spend $10 for shipping.`
