- When I was in Toronto over Christmas I visited the Aikenhead (sp?) Hardware
- superstore, which is something like a large Builder's Square with
- prices and goods ranging from the modest to the sublime. In the
- kitchen section they had a variety of appliances, including several
- by Miele. I saw a built-in oven for ~$CAN4000, stovetops for ~$CAN2000
- and similar prices for dish washers and freezers. Unfortunately, I
- didn't have time to find out what made these appliances worth the money.
-
- My wife and I just bought our first house and I've only recently noticed
- appliances seriously. I was not aware that there was a "luxury" market
- beyond the high-end goods one finds in most major department stores.
- Could someone explain why someone would want one of the Miele (or
- other super-premium) appliances? What features could add this much
- value to an oven? Is this a question of durability, capability, or
- status?
-
- thanks very much,
-
