- I read through all the available followups to this post before
- I replied.
-
- If you have a CompuServe account, you can access their nationwide
- phone*index and find similiar info. I was somewhat shocked to
- find this available. CompuServe makes it very clear via disclaimer
- statements on entry to the system that all this information is
- gathered from public sources and even tells you how to have
- your information added, deleted or changed.
-
- I recently used it to help me remember who lived at an address in
- my old hometown. I had a return address from a very old wedding
- invitation. I had just torn the address off the envelope and stuck
- in down in a box of addresses. Years (about 3) had gone by and
- I found this in the bottom of the box. All I had was the address,
- city and zip. Using the CompuServe database, I entered this information
- and VOILA!, it returned the name of the person at that address.
- I then remembered who it was and recorded a more permanent address
- card in my file for future reference.
