  18. NiCads are great for photoflashes, but make sure you have a second pair.
  19. It seems that NiCads dump their energy quicker than alkalines.  This results
  20. in quicker "cycle" times for the flash.  (A very compelling reason to use
  21. NiCads in flashes, versus other types of batteries.)  The downside is that
  22. NiCads do not taper off when they get weak, like other types of batteries --
  23. they just pretty much flat-out quit. You don't get the warning you do with
  24. other types, i.e. longer and longer cycle times.  For this reason, if you
  25. depend on your flash, keep a second pair handy and charged.

  30. Does it have a flash?  It may then be related to the above reason.  The
  31. batteries give another change, then they're spent and can't advance the motor.
  32. Then, installing new batteries may confuse the camera.  Did it just take a
  33. picture and should advance or not?  Maybe the dump rate it too fast for the
  34. flash?  This is all just conjecture, though.
