  17.         CALL FOR AN END TO THE COLD WAR AGAINST CUBA
  18.  
  19. On January 20th, Bill Clinton becomes president of the United
  20. States. On THURSDAY, JANUARY 21st, people from every corner of this
  21. country will phone the White House, calling on President Clinton to
  22. begin to change U.S. policy toward Cuba.
  23.  
  24. During the presidential campaign, Clinton expressed support for the
  25. so-called "Cuban Democracy Act." This bill, which was approved by
  26. Congress last September and was signed into law by Bush in October,
  27. is designed to tighten the economic and trade blockade against
  28. Cuba.  As President, Clinton will have the authority to decide how
  29. rigidly to enforce this law. As President, Clinton will have the
  30. authority to issue executive orders which could end the blockade
  31. and lift travel restrictions to Cuba. As President, Clinton can
  32. take the steps necessary to finally bring sanity to our nation's
  33. relations with Cuba.
