  37. We have been very pleased by the response to our call for papers
  38. and anticipate an exciting interdisciplinary event which will
  39. include academic presentations, performance art, music and
  40. literary readings.  We look forward to an extremely lively three days
  41. in March, and anticipate that this will be the first of an ongoing
  42. conference series.

  44. The conference committee is in the process of assembling the
  45. program and we will have a schedule of presentations completed by
  46. late January.

  48. We have made arrangements with the Holiday Inn--Fair Oaks for an
  49. extraordinarily reasonable room rate for the DC metropolitan area.
  50. All conference sessions will be held at the Holiday Inn, though other
  51. events--such as films and readings--associated with the conference may
  52. also be taking place off-site.  Rooms at the Holiday in are $55 per
  53. night, single or double occupancy, plus 6.5% tax.  Please make your
  54. reservations as soon as possible by phoning (703) 352-2525, and
  55. mentioning that you are a part of the Vietnam Generation room block.
  56. We encourage you to make your reservations by February 10, 1993.
  57. After that date, rooms are subject to availability and a rate
  58. increase.

  60. Conference pre-registration is $50.  Late registration is $65.  Late
  61. registrations are postmarked after February 20, 1993. We apologize for
  62. the necessity of charging such a high fee, but we are not subsidized
  63. by funding from any university or professional organization.
  64. Registration for students is $30, and xerox of student identification
  65. must be enclosed.  We can also offer an extremely limited number of
  66. hardship waivers for those who simply cannot afford to attend the
  67. conference if they must pay the $50 fee.  Because our capacity to
  68. waive registration fees is so limited, we ask that you request such a
  69. waiver only in the case of the greatest need.

  71. On Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6 we will maintain a
  72. Book Room where copies of your publications can be displayed
  73. and sold.  The room will be staffed by George Mason University
  74. student interns.  If you would like your publications to be made
  75. available at the conference, please let us know as soon as possible
  76. so that we can make arrangements. The Book Room will be open
  77. from 9:00 in the morning until 9:00 in the evening on Friday, and
  78. from 9:00 in the morning until 6:30 in the evening on Saturday.

  80. Post-conference publications:  We anticipate assembling at least
  81. one anthology of papers presented at the conference, to be
  82. published by Viet Nam Generation.  If you would like your
  83. presentation considered for publication as an article, please plan
  84. on submitting it to Viet Nam Generation at the conference, or by no
  85. later than March 20, 1993.  We will also be videotaping conference
  86. sessions, and we will make the tapes available as teaching tools.

  88. We are currently planning on a Welcome Reception on Thursday,
  89. March 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 in the evening, which will include hors
  90. d'oeuvres and a Cash Bar.  On Friday and Saturday we will run
  91. four concurrent tracks (two academic tracks, one activist track
  92. and one artist track) from 9:00 in the morning until 6:30 in the
  93. evening.  Sessions in each track will last one-and-a-half hours
  94. each.  There will be receptions and performances on both
  95. Friday and Saturday night, which will include music and either
  96. theater, dance, or readings.
