  11. I need help in selecting a 17" monitor and a graphics card. All
  12. comments, recommendations, warnings are welcome. Please indicate if I
  13. can bother you with more questions privately. I plan to collect all
  14. answers and send them to whoever asks a similar question during the
  15. next few months.

  17. My primary GUI/OS is X11/Linux although I will be using Windows/DOS
  18. from time to time so the card should be excellent for both. Price,
  19. though a selection criteria, is not a major one.

  21. For monitors I was looking at the Amdek 817 and MAG MX17F. I dropped
  22. and Amdel after reading the PC World review. What I didn't like about
  23. the MAG is the 60Hz V. rate at the maximum resolution. Would it be
  24. justified to lose the 0.26 dot pitch and go to the NEC 5FG (which has
  25. 0.28) just to get a 74Hz rate that resolution ?

  27. As for cards, I'm currently looking at the Actix SG32 and the ATI
  28. UGPro. X11 performance under Linux is very important.
