  14. A friend of mine asked me a question about vi that I was unable to answer.

  16. He said that a long time ago he could load a MACRO into vi that would provide
  17. a column rule (i.e. column number indicator) that would appear as a side effect
  18. to his document. That is the ruler would act like line numbering.

  20. We are particularly interested in SunOS vi.
