- In the process of deciding on whether to spring for Amiga Unix, I'm evaluating
- several tape drives. The Viper 250meg seems to be a good choice at 7meg/min,
- etc. but I'm wondering if - at the price point of the CBM tape drive (the
- A3070) - it isn't worth just going with CBM's solution... Does anyone have
- any preferences, etc. or pet peaves re: one tape drive vs. another? Also, I
- understand that only Wangtek, Sankyo, and Caliper drives are explicitly
- supported by CBM's unix install utility and so that's a consideration (rumour
- has it that there is a kludge available topermit the Viper to work though -
- BTW does anyone know if the A3070 is just a repackaged Wangtek or not?).
- Finally, forgive the ignorance, but what is the deal with QIC-150? I've heard
- that you can read 250 meg tapes in QIC-150 format drives but that it's not
- "healthy" to do so... Is there a QIC-250? If so, does the same apply about
- reading 150s in a QIC-250 drive, etc. Thanks.
