-
- I agree. Book files are the only area of FrameMaker that I have been
- annoyed by the functionality (or lack thereof). Bugs are a different
- kind of annoyance.
-
- Maybe this is a good time to start compiling a book makers wish list.
-
- 1. A stronger concept of Book.
-
- I would like the ability to have the character and paragraph
- formats controled at the book level. Importing formats does
- not always work and with 12 chapters is a bit of a chore.
-
- 2. Better support for complex page numbers. (Chapter Variable)
-
- There should be a simple option for complex page numbers in
- a book. This can really be considered part of #1, but I feel
- that a book file should have some real value. Can't stress it
- enough.
-
- It is clear that certain chapters may need to be split across
- multiple files. It would still be nice to have a way for Frame
- to allow operations at the Book/Chapter/File/Paragraph/Selection
- levels.
-
- For that matter, my footer has the book title aligned on the
- inside edge with the chapter name and complex page number on
- the outside edge. Is there a better way to do this than embed
- them into a two cell table?
-
- 3. Support for Draft Copies.
-
- Yes, I now have the magic words for background, conditional
- postscript text on the master page. Ugly, but it works. This
- is another area that could use better documentation, support at the
- "Book" level, etc.
-
- I'm sure I'll think of more before I'm finished. Any others out there?
