  13. I'm surprised that in this discussion an old proposal that seemed to
  14. make very good sense has been ignored.  Someone proposed about a year
  15. ago that some configuration option be set at the time of installation
  16. which would guide the choice between security and simplicity.  For
  17. example, the system would be shipped with two password files, and the
  18. appropriate one would be copied into /etc for the initial configuration.
