- I'm surprised that in this discussion an old proposal that seemed to
- make very good sense has been ignored. Someone proposed about a year
- ago that some configuration option be set at the time of installation
- which would guide the choice between security and simplicity. For
- example, the system would be shipped with two password files, and the
- appropriate one would be copied into /etc for the initial configuration.
