  21. I did some tests using the power supply from a Practical Peripherals
  22. 2400bps modem.  This supply is rated 9vac, 800mA.  Open circuit
  23. voltage was measured at 10.2vac, and did not drop significantly during
  24. my tests.

  26. Power on, displaying TOPCARD:        20 mA
  27. Power off:                6.2 mA
  28. Running IR95 (EXM):            26 mA*
  29. Running IR95 (EXE):            24 mA*
  30. Transmitting a code with IR95:        80 mA
  31. Sitting at a DOS prompt:        76 mA

  33. * There was a definite, repeatable 2mA difference between the EXM and
  34. EXE versions of IR95.  Go figger.

  36. Also, typing 'serctl /o' at the DOS prompt did not decrease power
  37. consumption.

  39. I tried to take some readings on internal power, but my cheapo ammeter
  40. apparently drops the voltage too much.  I had "Main battery low"
  41. readings, spontaneous shutdowns, "Exiting backup mode" messages,
  42. reboots, etc galore.  Probably dozens of each.  And didn't lose any
  43. data from anything.  I'll get a small, precision resistor and try
  44. again.
