  12. An interesting thing happened to me when I upgraded my NETX
  13. shell from version 3.22 to version 3.31, supplied with DOSUP6.ZIP.

  15. Firstly, I noticed that my previous NETX.COM was now NETX.EXE,
  16. an interesting problem if you just copy it to the directory
  17. where the old NETX.COM existed.  I guess DOS always tries
  18. to run a .COM before a .EXE, so the old one was always
  19. executed first ... until I deleted it.

  21. The next problem is more serious.  I previously had loaded
  22. NETX high using the LH command, and it fit just fine in
  23. high memory.  The new NETX though, is so big that it *refuses*
  24. to go up there!  I currently have a chunk of UMB that is
  25. 65,504 bytes, more than enough to hold NETX.EXE which uses
  26. just 50,064.  My guess is that NETX really needs more than
  27. 65Kb to load, after all, it's executable size jumped from
  28. 51,201 bytes to 77,586 bytes.

  30. Anyone else experienced this problem?  If I can't get NETX.EXE
  31. to load high, I'm going back to NETX.COM.  What benefits do
  32. I get anyway?
