- An interesting thing happened to me when I upgraded my NETX
- shell from version 3.22 to version 3.31, supplied with DOSUP6.ZIP.
-
- Firstly, I noticed that my previous NETX.COM was now NETX.EXE,
- an interesting problem if you just copy it to the directory
- where the old NETX.COM existed. I guess DOS always tries
- to run a .COM before a .EXE, so the old one was always
- executed first ... until I deleted it.
-
- The next problem is more serious. I previously had loaded
- NETX high using the LH command, and it fit just fine in
- high memory. The new NETX though, is so big that it *refuses*
- to go up there! I currently have a chunk of UMB that is
- 65,504 bytes, more than enough to hold NETX.EXE which uses
- just 50,064. My guess is that NETX really needs more than
- 65Kb to load, after all, it's executable size jumped from
- 51,201 bytes to 77,586 bytes.
-
- Anyone else experienced this problem? If I can't get NETX.EXE
- to load high, I'm going back to NETX.COM. What benefits do
- I get anyway?
-
- Details:
-
- NETX.COM v3.22 07/31/91 51,201
- NETX.EXE v3.31 11/12/92 77,586
