  15. I responded to both Dan and John privately, but I forgot to follow up to the
  16. list. Here's what I am concerned about:

  18. As I understand it, if one does not use the netware encryption method, the 
  19. default at login is to transmit password info as cleartext, not apple's
  20. password encryption.  I consider this a significant security breach.  I'm
  21. aware that there is a problem with how apple supports other encryption methods
  22. in the Chooser.  What I would like to see is either a Login init/cdev from 
  23. Novell that bypasses the Chooser to login directly using the netware encryption
  24. method, or a change in the NW4Mac NLM to default to Apple's encryption.

  26. I would also like to see more support for Mac clients in Netware.  It would
  27. be a great help to have a scripting facility in Netware.  I'm aware of the
  28. MacLogin Script program, but it would be nice to have a more integrated
  29. product from Novell that doesn't rely on commands embedded in comments.  It
  30. would allow us network supervisors to tailor an environment for mac clients
  31. as we can for DOS/Windows, etc.  I would like to see a MAP command for the mac
  32. that would contain the functionality of MAP ROOT and the shareware SetPaths
  33. init.  A method to set up a Default Folder for a client logging in, using a
  34. SET_HOME object in the bindery.  Right now I'm in the process of changing my
  35. mac lab configuration, so I have a lot of ideas percolating. :-)

  37. I hope out of the alliance between Apple and Novell, we will see some change
  38. in this direction soon.
