  12. My uucp link is through an Amiga500(megalith) and I have manually-operating NeXTMail.  My regular
  13. Internet node, a ND cube that is hardwired into the Internet (tigger) has a DecStation server that
  14. does not yield to my attempts to run uucp through it....yet.    I have the opportunity to get "flat file"
  15. unix-script skimming of Usenet newsgroups from another node and I take my flat file and read it
  16. via NG72.3.  Because my uucp is functional, I am actually able to "r" a given article in NG, and have
  17. my reply go via my uucp link automatically.  But I am unable to post directly to the group or to add on to
  18. a given thread.   Forgive my slightly convoluted statement of the problem I have, but here it is.

  20. I am using NG v 72.3 with the "flat-file" option and need to know where "inews" in supposed to 
  21.  
  22. reside.  A friend from GUN told me that his inews was in either /usr/local/bin  or /usr/bin, so I logged
  23. out to root and made the folder, inews, in /usr/local/bin and the owner was root-wheel.  after going back to 
  24.  
  25. ordinary user level, I opened a shell, su'd to root, and cd'd to the location of the inews folder.
  26. I then did a "chmod 4755 inews" but discovered that  I was still unable to post the group or
  27. to "Follow up".    When I try to do so, I get the following message:

  29.        Post failed: sh: /usr/local/bin/inews: cannot execute
  30.  
  31. Have I f****d up my set uid root to the 'inews" folder, or am I missing something very obvious?
