- Summary: Disable write to a hard disk on a lab machine...
-
- ---- HELP PLEASE ---
-
- I am in desperate need of a software package that lock certain partitions
- in particular the bootup (system) partition and an application partition
- on a hard drive that is hooked up to a public MAC-II. Everytime someone
- use the machine, some files (system, etc...) would accidentally get deleted.
- This produced a major headache for me. I would have to find the missing
- files and restore them each time.
-
- Does anyone know of a package that securely lock writing to parts of a
- hard drive (partitions)? It should protect the drive from as much user's
- abuse as possible (delete, reformats ...) but, still allow the machine
- to function.
-
- Please, send all suggestions to: xnguyen@icsi.berkeley.edu
-
- Thanks,
- Alex Nguyen
