- If you do not have definate information you really shouldn't post rumors. A
- few weeks ago I saw a posting that said Apple recalled the vx! Well I called
- them and some dealers and they said they had not had nor heard of any
- recall.
-
- The demand for these machines is so high Apple cannot keep up with
- production. This is the real problem. Apple way under estimated the demand
- for all their new machines.
-
- I've had my vx for 1 month and use the CD drive for data (high speed) and
- audio (low speed) with no problems. There are some software CDROMs out there
- that will not work with the high speed transfer, hence the reason for
- including a CDEV that allows one to manually set the speed.
-
- Actually the fact that you are waiting may be a blessing. As you know the
- CDROM version only comes with an 80 Meg drive offering. This drive is way too
- small for a "multimedia" machine that will most likely have large amounts of
- data to store. (I have since upgraded to a Quantum 230 and moved the 80 to my
- old SE which needed a new drive.) You might want to do swap before you take
- delivery if you can get credit for the 80 or wait till the 230 version with
- CDROM is announced.
