- I've been told that my battery is reaching the "replace me" stage
- of its life (in my SE). I want to know if its symptoms are consistent
- with what other netters have noted:
-
- 1) Occasionally the SE beeps once, sometimes twice, just before it
- boots from the hard drive.
-
- 2) Occasionally (maybe once every 7-28 days) it won't boot from the
- hard drive; rather, it displays the floppy icon. Inserting a disk with
- a system will cause the SE to boot from the floopy; restarting will work fine.
- OR, inserting a disk WITHOUT a system will cause the SE to eject it (as usual)
- and THEN to boot from the hard drive.
-
- Note that once the machine is running all successive restarts or
- shutdown-restarts (without shutting off the machine) will result in a
- successful boot from the hard drive.
-
- I haven't noted any other "symptoms"; what else should I be looking
- for? And, again, are these "symptoms" I'm seeing consistent with a dying
- battery?
-
- Thanks,
-
- Jim
