  12. Try this at home:

  14. Set disk cache to 32K and restart.  Use Speedometer and see
  15. what the disk drive performance rating is.  Probably over 2.0.

  17. Now set disk cache to 784K and restart.  Repeat performance
  18. ratings test.  As expected CPU and Video ratings improve dramatically.
  19. But look at the disk drive rating.  Mine was down to 0.5!!! 
  20. I repeated this several times, and got the same consistent results!!

  22. Now what is going on?  Why does the disk performance go down so
  23. much when you increase the cache ??????
