- The apples 80MB drive is also found in the CX and CI which are made to be run
- either Horizontel or Vertical, therefore I wouldn't think that you would need
- to reformat to change the orientation of your drive. To be safe, backup the
- disk, and if the disk does start to act up you can reformat it then. Mats is
- correct that the Mac IIfx is not designed to stand on its side, like the Mac
- II, and IIx, the machine is unstable in this configuration and it blocks the
- side cooling vents. However, there are support stands sold to fix these
- problems, they keep the machine off the floor or desk (keeps vents clear),
- and give it a wider more stable platform to sit on. They also sell extension
- cables for the monitors and keyboard to allow placement under desks etc. I
- cannot, of course, endorse any of these products, but I'm not aware of a MAC
- II that has had problems while using them, my experience base is with three
- machines.
