>Most new drives don't really care which way they're mounted, but since you have an fx... I might be tempted to re-format. But a simple re-initialize won't do the trick. I think you'll need to use a third party program called StorWare to do the low-level format. You can reach them at 800 422-2115.

I didn't have to reformat or anything with my IIfx. No problems at all. Of
course, this might depend on the maker of your drive, but I doubt it. The Mac II
series was designed to be set up in either orientation.
