- If you are using a drive from APS that is 2.5 years old it is formatted
- with a partitioning setup that is not the same as the currant partition type in
- use. I had an APS pro40 Quantum myself(Formated with APS powertools 1.13). If
- you just replace the driver without reformating the drive may not work
- properly. It is necessary to backup the drive and completely reformat it using
- the new APS Power Tools setup.
- I was also having problems with Syquest compatibily during boot up. The
- new APS driver requires that only 1 Syquest mounting INIT be insatlled in the
- system folder and that, if it is SCSI probes latest version it be set not to
- close the driver after unmounting the cart. In APS's latest driver one driver
- operates all the drives in use and if it is closed the system crashes.
- I have also had trouble with the Hewlett Packard background INIT included
- in the 3.1 and other new HP print drivers. At times the HP background makes an
- incorrect bus call. The only solutions I have found for this are 1) disable the
- HP background INIT (loosing background printing) 2) physically shutting off the
- power to the computer and turning it back on ( this will take care of the
- problem sometimes for a long period). HP has not returned my calls about the
- background INIT.
