- My system:
- Macintosh SE/30 (System 7.0 german) SCSI-ID 7
- Internal 40 MB Quantum HD SCSI-ID 0
- External 240 MB Quantum HD SCSI-ID 3
- Laser printer PLP II SCSI-ID 6
-
- My problem:
- When I try to boot from the external HD, the system hangs just after
- displaying "Welcome to Macintosh" and "MacsBug installed". There is
- no drive activity any more. Jumping into MacsBugs is possible, but
- typing on the keyboard doesn't work. The only way to get out is to
- switch off the Mac and switch it on again. After two or three times
- the Mac boots from the external HD without problems.
- Booting from the internal HD sometimes causes the same problem.
- I found out, that the problem is more likely when I use the Silverlining
- driver rather than the Apple driver.
-
- My question:
- What am I doing wrong? Is there a certain order for switching on the
- SCSI devices (Usually my order is: printer, external, Mac). Must they
- have certain IDs?
-
- Thank you for help!
