- I have a question about exporting ascii-only text from FileMaker Pro
- 2.0 that I hope someone can help me with.
-
- One of the databases I use frequently has information that I also like
- to upload to online services as ascii text. I have been able to develop
- a script to locate and export only the text from a particular field, but
- the text contains extra ascii characters that foul my upload. This is
- text from a scrolling field that can be lengthy, and FMPro adds ascii
- characters at each carriage return. I thought that tab-separated text
- would be the best export format, but when I try "merge" or some of the
- others, I get additional information, field names, quotation marks, etc.
-
- Obviously I could manually copy and past the text from the field into
- a word processor. I can even send an Apple event to open my word
- processor and copy the field text, so all I have to do is paste it
- into the word processor. That saves a little time, but I'd rather just
- export the text to a file and upload it later.
-
- Am I missing something easy here? I'd appreciate any advice.
