- If anyone has ANY comments or experiences you'd like to share surrounding
- FoxBase for the Mac, I'd really like to hear from you -- email PLEASE!

- We have a database up and running between FoxPro 2.0 on a PC clone and
- 4th Dimension on a Mac II. Having incurred too, too many aggravations in
- dealing with 4D (performance, proprietary database manipulation language,
- etc.), I'd really like to find another database product to use for the
- Mac. Ideally, I believe, that would be FoxBase due to our continued
- commitment to FoxPro 2.0 on the PC (which, incidentally, is EXPONENTIALLY
- FASTER and, in my opinion, a lot easier to use).
-
- Also, Microsoft is working toward releasing a Windows version of FoxPro
- in 1st quarter '93. Microsoft has stated that they're trying to
- offer better support across hardware platforms. Does anyone know of
- any current developments with FoxBase? Is it approaching the level
- of FoxPro 2.0? Is a new release of FoxBase expected corresponding
- to the Windows version? I haven't been able to wrestle much info from
- a Microsoft sales rep via their 800 number (though he was very friendly).
-
- We've just learned that we need to make a decision soon as we currently
- have an "offer" by Acius to upgrade 4D and save $100 if we do so by
- the end of January. I very much want to move away from that platform
- to something with a reasonable interface, nice programming tools,
- GOOD performance, and with SQL support.
-
- I'll be more than happy to post a summary of the replies should
- interest warrant it!
-
- Thanks to all in advance,
- Lance Hartmann (lance%hartmann.austin.ibm.com@ibmpa.awdpa.ibm.com)
