  12. OK, I'll risk starting a flamewar :-)...

  14. I recently posted a response to the question on the Subject line,
  15. saying that you are legally obliged to either pay the shareware
  16. fee on shareware you're using, or to delete it from your disk.

  18. I got several responses by email asking what the legal precedent was.
  19. Does anyone know of one? I don't keep up with software court cases!

  21. Actually, I don't see why any special law is necessary. If the
  22. shareware license provided by the author says that you've got to pay
  23. if you keep it, then that's that! Similarly, consider the used-car
  24. dealer who says you can take the car for a test drive. If you never
  25. come back from the test drive, are you not stealing?
