- GIFconverter 2.3b2 (I think thats the latest beta release) reads
- JPG files. The benefit to gifconverter is (contrary to what its name
- implies) that it reads several formats (tiff, pict, jpg, gif and some others)
- and can do conversions to and from any format that it supports.

- There is also another utility called pictpixie that's fairly good - can
- be found on ftp.apple.com in (I think) /dts/mac/quicktime. This is free
- whereas gifconverter if your conscience so dictates is $30 shareware.
- pictpixie has an annoying problem with freezing your system if it encounters
- corrupt .jpg or .gif files. It freezes so severely that I can't drop into
- macsbug using the IIci programmers switch. for me this doesn't happen too
- often though.
