- I am having a problem converting a Writenow Document into RTF, so it can be
- read into Microsoft Word.
- Simple 1 page docs with no special formatting make it with no trouble
- However, docs with footer/header , font changes + graphics etc don't
-
- no error is reported during the conversion or reading process
- when the rtf file is read into word
- i get a doc with 1 character per line, the figures are gone, and page set up
- reveals
- that the left margin is 0 and the right margin -22i%4$} (i.e. a garbage #)
- can't change these or much else
-
- tried saving as macwrite from writenow and then reading it into word
- this leads to repeated errors, one after the other, that one gets out of only
- with quickness and clever placement of the mouse in between flashing dialogs
-
-
- called t/maker tech support
- got thru to a person who said that this was a known problem, and he will send
- me new filters that will solve it. In the interim he suggested, rereading the
- rtf file
- via writenow and the re-converting the writenow version of the 1st rtf file
-
-
- seemed a bit odd, but perhaps feasible
-
-
- tried it, and discovered that word did not act any different
- moreover the rtf file read back into writenow had corrupted formatting in some
- places
-
- just for kicks I repeated this process several times, and discovered that the
- degree of corruption grew rapidly with additional iterations
-
-
- Summary: the writenow 3.0 filters seem to be buggy, and if you expect to be
- sending files to others who use other wordprocessors (in my case, I have been a
- Wrienow user since its inception, and like the program...however, the Journal
- in question will only accept submissions in Word)
- you may want to request the new filters from t/maker
- i'll try to post them to sumex if they do work on arrival, and t/maker permits
- me to.

- Any comments or other solutions ?
