- Hi netters! Last night I was working on somebody's machine and rebooted it.
- It started up fine, but when I tried to insert a diskette into the A: drive, I
- found that there was a diskette already there.
-
- Naturally I assumed that it had some sort of boot-through software on it, but
- found that not only was it a newly formatted diskette, but the PC would boot
- with _any_ 3 1/2" diskette in the drive.
-
- Stats: IBM PS/2 40sx w/ 80M hard drive, 1.44M floppy
-
- Upon bootup the PC would try to read the diskette three times and then go ahead
- and boot from the hard drive. I looked through my technical specs on this
- machine and other PS/2s but could find no reference to this behavior. Could
- someone point me to where this is documented. Thanks all.
