- I have a DX2-66 system which has been pushed to 76MHz courtesy of a 38MHz
- clock crystal (my dealer didn't have a 40MHz crystal handy) and a PCubid
- heatsink/fan ($40, 916-338-1338. PC Power & Cooling sells a similar device,
- see their ads in PCMag & Byte). It works beautifully. Zero problems. My
- dealer has done the same thing in his personal system and he too has no
- complaints.
-
- My system is also VL-Bus, using the ATI Graphics Ultra Pro 2meg/68875.
- No problems.
-
- My dealer has tried pushing most of the 486 line.. 486SX-25's push to 33MHz,
- 486SX-33's push to 40MHz, 486DX-33's push to 40MHz, 486DX2-66's push to
- 80MHz, but 486DX2-50's stopped being pushable upon introduction of the
- DX2-66, and 486DX-50's won't push, period. Mind you, _always_ use a
- heatsink/fan combination device when pushing CPUs! If you don't mind risking
- voiding your warranty and digging up the right clock crystal, pushing your
- CPU a notch is definitely something to consider. (Note that my dealer only
- pushes CPUs on customer request, it is far from normal business practice).
