- You actually need more than just MSCDEX.EXE. You also need a driver specifically for
- the Adaptec controller that knows how to talk CD-ROM. The MSCDEX.EXE program is a
- sort of universal go-between for Windows and the device driver to the CD-ROM.

- You can contact Adaptec and try to get what you need or you might be able to contact NEC
- and get it. I personally gave up on Adaptec as their always made me wait on hold
- for a long time and then took my name and number but never called me back.
