  14. I am trying to install a 24X on my 386/33 machine.
  15. Machine Specs:
  16. 386/33 with 8MB
  17. Adaptec 1542B SCSI Adapter
  18. AMI BIOS with 0 wait state
  19. Shadow RAM enabled.

  21. Speedstar set to factory default:
  22. IRQ2 enabled, 0 wait state ... etc.

  24. config.sys : himem.sys and emm386 (with 'noems' option)

  26. The Problem:
  27. I am attempting to run windows in 800x600 with 32K colors.
  28. But it crashes ... error --> "Cannot load GDI.EXE"
  29.  
  30. It is able to run fine in 800x600 16 color mode.
  31.  
  32. If I try to run Windows (800x600 32K colors) in 'standard' mode,
  33. it comes up with the program manager ... but it displays errors
  34. when trying to display the Groups. 
  35. error: "The Group xxxx.grp is corrupted ... do you wish to 
  36.         recreate it ?"
  37. I know the file is not corrupted. So what gives?
