- I'm having a bit of trouble adjusting to the differences in the
- Wolf3D games with my new speed-demon machine. I've already dumped
- the 386, so I can't go back.
-
- Many of the sound effects seem truncated, some are missing entirely, and
- some are interrupted and complete at a later time.
-
- For example, when I open a pushwall, there's the initial sound of it
- moving, but the slightly different sound that usually continues until
- it stops moving does not happen at all.
-
- When I open a door, sometimes the sound seems right, but often it seems
- truncated. When a guard opens a door, there is usually *no* sound.
-
- When I kill one of the actors, the death-sound is truncated, and occasionally
- the rest of it occurs later, if I should re-enter the same room (I might be
- wrong about this part, but that's what it seemed like)
-
- The music seems to be fine.
-
-
- My system: 50Mhz 486DX (*not* a DX2) VESA Local Bus video "Color Designer"
- board with Tseng Labs chip, SoundBlaster (not Pro or Pro Basic) set up
- to default settings.
-
- I'm going to try fiddling with the SB settings next, but I don't hold
- much hope that it's that simple.
