  14.      My 1541 is dying (dead?).
  15. It turns on ok, the usual head bump, disk spin, etc.  As soon as I try to
  16. access it, or anything else on the serial bus, the computer locks up.  When the
  17. drive is turned off, the computer finally comes up with a Device not Present
  18. error.  As long as the drive is off, I can access the serial bus fine.
