  14. I just recently returned to the Usenet mail world as my school term began
  15. again in January. As such, I'm not sure if the following news made it here
  16. or not:

  18. The latest release of the CS-DOS Extra Utilities Pack V4.0 includes a
  19. complete unzipping system which can handle most v1.x PKWARE style ZIP files.
  20. In other words, its an unzipper for the CBM world.
  21.  
  22. Note that it runs under CS-DOS on the 128; don't ask for a C64 or 128 native
  23. mode version, as it won't be coming.

  25. I'm currently working on a zipper as well, which will simply STORE files
  26. without compression. This will be so that users who MUST transfer ZIP files
  27. will be able to (some QWRRK users?). Expect this to be released in the next
  28. month or so.

  30. There was corrupt version of the current Pack floating around locally here
  31. in Toronto. However, the copy on GEnie, and two major Fido sites (Diamond
  32. Bar and The Enterprise BBS's) are just fine. Be sure to follow the
  33. documentation exactly in the file for BVUNZIP (that's its name,
  34. incidentaly).

  36. The filename is CS-XTRA4.LZH, and I hope to put it on cco.caltech.edu
  37. tonight in the pub/rknop/INCOMING subdirectory. I assume Rob will then move
  38. it to /pub/rknop/cs-dos.

  40. I appreciate all comments and suggestions, as well as your experiences with
  41. the package. Like the documentation says, it is a first effort, and I was
  42. rushed to get it out. Hence it is not as complete as I would have liked it
  43. to be (eg. not many options for different things). Your suggestions will
  44. help to define what V2.0 of BVUNZIP will look like. :))
