- I need to download some files to my C64. A friend suggested that
- rather than buying a modem for my C64, I download the files to my
- Macintosh (which has a modem), and then use xmodem to transfer them
- from the Mac to the 64 over a null modem cable.
-
- After digging out my C64 Programmer's Manual, it looks like the
- xmit and receive lines on the C64 user port need to be converted from
- 5 to 12 volts for the null modem cable. Then it looks like it's just
- a matter of connecting xmit and receive (crossing them) and ground
- to the Mac port.
-
- Have I got this right? Assuming this works, at what speed could I
- transfer files across the 2 machines? Any other considerations I should
- know about?
