- Several times I have seen GEM criticized, here and elsewhere, somewhat
- unfairly. GEM is NOT an OS, first of all- it, like Windows is PART of an
- OS- they both provide some system level functions, most noticeablty the
- screen management, but do not run by themselves: hence, neither is an
- OS, nor an application. Since GEM is not an OS, it is neither multi-
- tasking nor single-tasking. Lastly, GEMs biggest problem always was
- Apple, which used legal means to suppress its economic rivals, unfairly,
- in my opinion. True, this does not change the current technological
- state of affairs, but at least the record should be set straight.
