  12. I have received quite a few replies to my problem with the SuperDrive controller
  13. card, and I thought I'd post how I resolved it for others that may be 
  14. considering purchasing the card.

  16. First, a quick summary of the trouble I was having.  Basically, I put the card
  17. in slot five thinking that it would totally replace the smartport.  When I 
  18. connected my drives and set the cntrl panel setting to your card, my ramdisk
  19. no longer appeared.

  21. I was under the impression the this card contained all the features of the GS
  22. smartport with the addition of controlling High Density Drives.  So, I posted
  23. my problem here to see if there was something wrong with my card since the 
  24. ramdisk didn't appear.  After many helpful replies, and some logical thinking, 
  25. I figured out that the card does not support the ramdrive for one because it
  26. is compatible with the ][e also.

  28. So, to resolve my problem, I had to do some slot rearranging.  I moved the
  29. SuperDrive card to slot 6, and just plugged in my SuperDrive to the card.  My
  30. sound board was in slot 6, so I moved it to slot one thinking that I'd probably
  31. never have to print and digitize at the same time.  I plugged my other 800k
  32. 3.5" and 5.25" drive to the GS's smartport.  With this configuration I can't
  33. have my 5.25 and the high density online at the same time, but that's not too
  34. big of a deal for me since I only use the 5.25 about 3 or 4 times a year.
  35. The real advantage I have found to this setup thought is that both of my 3.5
  36. drives are now drive 1s.  Thus, I can boot from either one!  This is nice since
  37. some FTA stuff puts the SuperDrive card in a self test mode from what I've heard.
